Eating 3 square meals a day is better than frequent eating in small quantum. This has been established by researchers from Purdue University, Indiana. Experiments conducted on over weight men, who were on low calorie and high protein diets revealed that they were more comfortable and less hungry when they ate three times full meals instead of small meals six times a day. The findings are contrary to the popular belief that frequent eating in tiny morsels keeps a person healthy.

Leidy, the lead researcher, conducted research on 27 obese men. They were made to eat either high protein diet or normal protein diet for 12 weeks. Diets contained 750 fewer calories than each man needed to maintain his current weight. The men were made to eat full meals 3 times a day at an interval of 5 hours each or six meals every 2 hours. At the end of the study it was found that those eating thrice a day with higher protein diet felt fuller throughout the day. They refused eat at odd hours as the thought of hunger was not at all present in their mind. However those men who were taking less protein 6 times a day felt hungry even late in the night as they felt hungry most of the day.

Folks, if you are in the habit of frequenting the kitchen and fridge for small helpings, desist from this habit with immediate effect and switchover to full meals thrice a day to lead a happy and healthy life!

My friend Ulag wants to get rid of alcoholic drinks in a phased manner. When he sought my advice I suggested to him to restrict himself to beer leaving all other alcoholic beverages.

Taken in moderate quantities beer is supposed to be the healthiest alcoholic beverage. It contains fibre, malt, minerals, vitamins and antioxidants. It has a lower calorific value compared to other intoxicating drinks. It is a well balanced diet according to researchers.

Beer is the national drink in the UK. Some believe that it contains chemicals instead of barley and hops. Another wrong notion is that beer contains fat.

Beer is freely available in local shops, restaurants and pubs and people meet there to socialize and share happiness. Beer culture is predominant in Europe. Americans feel that it is not a drink for aristocratic society and they prefer wine.

It is a common sight nowadays to see youngsters walking down the road intently listening to iPod music, with wires originating from their ears and dangling down their body. Like their computers they have also become experts in multitasking. However this multitasking is dangerous and it gives rise to accidents and unpleasant happenings, especially when a guy drives a car on a busy road or a machine operator runs a machine in a production shop or a doctor listens to the woes of the patient with the music gadget on.

Apart from this researchers have found that listening to iPod or MP3 Player or other audio gadgets just for one hour impairs hearing. Scientists have inferred that hair cells in the outer region of the ears are damaged when a person wears earphones and listens to music for an hour or more.
